Assumption Novena of Masses

Please share your prayer intentions for remembrance in our annual Assumption Novena of Masses beginning Tuesday, August 6. Throughout the nine days, we will call to mind Our Lady’s Assumption into heaven, declared an official dogma of the Church in 1950 by Pope Pius XII. You are invited to join fellow AMM members in praying this prayer to Our Lady of the Assumption.

Bishop Robert Barron offers insight on the August 15 Solemnity, which we will celebrate the day after the novena concludes:

“When we speak of the Assumption, we are not envisioning a journey through space, as though Mary moved up into the sky. The ‘heavens’ are a rich biblical symbol for … a manner of existence that lies beyond our familiar dimensions of space and time … Mary, who exists now in this other world, is not so much somewhere else as somehow else, and this helps to explain why we can speak of her, especially in her heavenly state, interceding, helping us, and praying for us and with us.”

Lift up your prayers into God’s presence during the Novena of Masses and Solemnity observance. You may also burn a Votive Light as a sign of your prayerful presence for this joyous feast.

Your intentions will be remembered from August 6-15 at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. We will celebrate Mass on the Solemnity of the Assumption Thursday, August 15, at 12:10 p.m. CT.  Read Father Clay’s letter about the Assumption.
