Send your petitions to be remembered during AMM’s annual celebration of Mary’s Espousal to Saint Joseph. The novena of Masses begins January 14 at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and continues for nine days.
You are invited to burn a Votive Light to honor the holy spouses’ faith-filled commitment to one another. Your intentions will be placed near Our Lady’s Altar here at the National Shrine throughout the novena and on the actual feast day, January 23. During the novena, join us in praying for engaged and married couples and all unborn children. In every place and time, may God bless and protect the institution of the family as the first and foremost spiritual community.
“Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found with child through the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 1:18
A few days remain in the official 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope. Pilgrims visiting the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Perryville, Missouri, on or before Tuesday may gain a plenary indulgence by fulfilling the standard conditions (details may be found here). An indulgence is the remission of punishment due for sins. Thousands of visitors have visited this designated sacred site since the late Pope Francis declared the Jubilee year in December 2024. Writing about Mary’s role in Jesus’ incarnation, Saint Louis de Montfort said that divine Wisdom “did not want to give himself directly to men but chose to do so through the Blessed Virgin. Nor did he want to come into the world as a full-grown man, with no need of others, but as a small child, in need of a Mother’s care and nourishment.” (Treatise on True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin, 139).
Our Lady became the holy dwelling place of God. The Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, is celebrated each year on January 1. It is a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass will be offered at 12:10 p.m., CT, inside the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal (St. Mary’s of the Barrens Church) in Perryville, Missouri. All are invited to join us in person or in spirit.
This feast is a beautiful opportunity to send your petitions to the Shrine and/or request a Votive Light to burn for your special intentions in the new year. Join with us in reciting this beautiful Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary as an additional way to celebrate and honor Mary, Mother of God.

The beautifully decorated Saint Mary’s of the Barrens Church at the El Santuario Nacional de Nuestra Señora de la Medalla Milagrosa, as well as the Sendero del Rosario, grotto, and grounds, will remain open for your prayerful pilgrimage throughout the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
The Visitor Center and Gift Shop will be closed December 24 – 25 and will reopen on December 26 at 10:00 a.m. The AMM office will be closed December 24 – 26 and will resume regular hours on Monday, December 29.
Jesus Christ — the Son of God and Prince of Peace — was given to us through the obedient faith of the Blessed Mother of God. Our Lady remains our constant advocate, always leading us closer to her Son, helping us love him more both in the manger and seated on his heavenly throne.
As you prepare for the coming of the Christ Child, please join the Association of the Miraculous Medal in celebrating our annual Christmas Novena of Masses. Any intentions you send will be remembered in the Prayers of the Faithful during these nine days leading up to Christmas. Your petitions will serve as a beautiful sign of your prayerful presence at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.
You may also request a Votive Light to burn for your intentions or as an act of adoration that draws you closer to Emmanuel, the Wonderful Counselor, Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Al recordar las apariciones de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, recordamos con confianza su voz llena de ternura y amor: “¿No estoy yo aquí, que soy tu madre?”. Palabras que desde el Tepeyac siguen consolando al pueblo sencillo, al migrante que extraña su tierra, al trabajador que se esfuerza por sostener a su familia, a la madre que vela por sus hijos.
En estos momentos muchos en nuestra comunidad enfrentan incertidumbre: la economía que aprieta, muchas enfermedades, la pérdida de algún ser querido, la situación migratoria, la violencia que a veces golpea nuestras comunidades. Y sin embargo, en medio de estas realidades, la Guadalupana nos recuerda que no estamos solos. Ella se apareció a la persona más humilde, san Juan Diego, para decirnos que en los pequeños y en los pobres también se revela la grandeza de Dios.
La Virgen Morena se ha quedado en medio de nuestro pueblo para consolar nuestras penas, curar nuestras heridas, escuchar nuestras súplicas y alentar nuestra fe. Por eso, hoy le invito a enviar sus intenciones: por su familia, sus necesidades, sus sueños, su futuro.
Cada petición o nombre de ser querido que me envíe, usando su hojita de respuesta, se colocará ante el altar de la Virgen en el Santuario durante las celebraciones guadalupanas de diciembre. Comenzaremos con una novena del 3 de diciembre que culmina con la Misa de las Rosas y celebración de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe el 12 de diciembre. Encienda una veladora en nuestro Santuario para participar en esta Novena.
Si además puede acompañar sus peticiones con una ofrenda, estará ayudando a que muchos más reciban consuelo y apoyo espiritual en estos tiempos difíciles. Con estas palabras en el corazón, nos acercamos nuevamente al misterio de la Navidad. En medio de tantas preocupaciones —la inseguridad, la soledad, los problemas económicos, la incertidumbre del futuro—, la voz del profeta se escucha con fuerza: “El pueblo que caminaba en tinieblas vio una gran luz”. Esa luz es Cristo, nacido de la Virgen María, humilde y pequeño, para mostrarnos que Dios no se olvida de su pueblo.
La Navidad no llega para quienes viven en calma, sino para quienes necesitan esperanza. Es el tiempo en que el Señor entra en nuestros hogares, en nuestras luchas y en nuestros silencios, para recordarnos que viene a caminar con nosotros. María, que guardaba todo en su corazón, nos enseña a mirar al Niño Jesús y a reconocer en él ese amor que renueva la vida.
Por eso quiero invitarle, de todo corazón, a unirse a nuestra Misa Navideña de Medianoche, el 25 de diciembre en el Santuario Nacional de Nuestra Señora de la Medalla Milagrosa.
Es una celebración que une a nuestra gran familia de fe en un mismo espíritu de gratitud, esperanza y consuelo. Allí, a los pies del altar de la Virgen, presentaremos las intenciones y súplicas de todos los miembros que nos acompañan en persona y desde sus hogares.
Por favor envíeme sus intenciones de oración para incluirlas en la Misa Navideña de Medianoche, el 24 de diciembre. Nosotros las colocaremos ante el altar de la Virgen María, donde permanecerán durante toda la temporada navideña, como símbolo de su fe.
Los sacerdotes vicentinos y yo también las recordaremos en nuestras misas y oraciones, pidiendo al Niño Dios que ilumine su hogar con su paz y su esperanza.
Puede solicitar esta tarjeta de oración por la familia para acompañarle en este tiempo de recogimiento espiritual. Récela desde casa, para unirse a la Sagrada Familia en espíritu.
Y si lo desea, puede encender una veladora en el Santuario, por alguna necesidad especial o por un ser querido. Su luz será un símbolo de su fe y de su presencia espiritual ante el altar de Nuestra Señora.
Esta Navidad, más que nunca, necesitamos volver a lo fundamental de nuestra fe: creer que la luz de Cristo es más fuerte que cualquier oscuridad. Que bajo el manto de María, Madre de la esperanza, puede renacer nuestra confianza en un Dios que sigue acompañando a su pueblo.
Que el Niño Jesús bendiga su hogar con paz, esperanza y alegría, mientras la Virgen María lo cubre con su ternura. Y que la luz de Dios siga brillando sobre usted y los suyos, ahora y siempre.

Join fellow members of the Association of the Miraculous Medal in our annual 8-day celebration of the Immaculate Conception. In 1854, Blessed Pope Pius IX defined the Church dogma stating that the Blessed Virgin Mary was preserved exempt from all stain of original sin.
Twenty-four years earlier, in 1830, Mary indicated having been “conceived without sin,” as this phrase appears on the Miraculous Medal, she instructed Saint Catherine Labouré to create and promote.
You are invited to entrust your prayer intentions to Mary for remembrance throughout the Masses being offered at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Perryville from December 8-15.
Praying this prayer daily during the Octave of Masses can unite you in spirit with fellow AMM members. You may also request a Votive Light to burn as a special sign of your love for the Mother of God — the pure and holy queen through whom all of heaven’s blessings flow!
